Tigers Claw to First SCIAC Win

After losing their first three SCIAC matches of the 2006 season, Oxy came away with a 19-8 victory over Cal Tech at Taylor pool on Wednesday.  Sean Inoue ('09) set a school record with eight steals in the game as Oxy used a strong press defense and counter attack to take a 9-2 first quarter lead.  Cameron Brahmst ('09) led the Tigers with four goals to up his season total to 43.  Brahmst was ranked 25th in the nation in goals scored coming into the game, and sixth in the WWPA.  He currently leads all SCIAC players in goals scored in all games combined this season.

Abiel Garcia ('09) added three goals to bump his season total to 34 and put him in 39th place in the NCAA in goals scored so far this season.  Every Oxy field player scored at least one goal in the match, including Jason Kayne ('10), who notched his first career score in his second game played as a Tiger.  Kayne had never played water polo prior to attending Occidental.
