LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 12, 2007) –
There was no lack of offense from the Tigers in the pool today as
16 different Occidental players found the back of the net in a
23-10 non-conference action today at Taylor Pool.
Cameron Brahmst and
Andrew Valdes led the offensive explosion with
four goals apiece. Bryce Rawers also added a pair.
As uncommon as it is for the goalie to score in water polo, twice
it happened today as both Blair Bergsteinsson and
Max Kelly recorded a goal.
Junior attacker John Wensman
accounted for three assists in the game. The Tigers got a pair of
assists from Josh Kantor and Sean
Inoue as well.
A trio of Tigers were tough on defense with
two exclusions drawn for Rawers, Austen Oliver and
Mac Hansler. Bergsteinsson recorded four steals
and six others had a pair apiece.
In front of the cage Bergsteinsson blocked 11
attempts and Kelly blocked all three shots against him.
Oxy improves to 8-7 overall this season with
two games scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13. At 11:00 a.m. the Tigers
will open SCIAC play against Caltech in Pasadena before returning
to Taylor Pool where they will host Fresno Pacific University at
4:00 p.m.
