CLAREMONT, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2007) –
Occidental water polo dropped its second straight SCIAC game with a
12-5 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps yesterday on the road.
The Tigers fell behind early, as the Stags
took a 5-2 first quarter lead and added four uncontested goals in
the second for a 9-2 halftime advantage. Oxy came back with two in
the third and limited CMS to only one, but the damage was already
done. In the final period of play the Tigers added another while
the Stags came up with a pair, for the 12-5 final.
More than half of Oxy's offense came
from junior Cameron Brahmst who scored three while
Austen Oliver and Abiel Garcia
added the other two scores. Brahmst stole the ball from CMS twice
and Garcia drew three exclusions and had the only Oxy assist of the
game. Blair Bergsteinsson blocked 10 shots in
front of the cage.
Tomorrow the Tigers will host Division I
Stanford at Taylor Pool with a 4:00 p.m. start.
