LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2010) – With a lot of black
and orange in Taylor Pool on Halloween weekend, the Occidental
College Tigers defeated the Caltech Beavers 21-13 in Southern
California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, snapping a
three game losing skid.
From the initial sprint, Oxy controlled the pace of the game,
getting their first seven goals from seven different Tigers.
Freshman Malcolm Clayton added a second in the
first quarter, to give the home team an 8-1 advantage after the
opening stanza.
Kevin Coleman got the offense going to start
the second, which featured nine more goals to the Beavers'
one. Oxy led 17-2 at the intermission.
In the second half Conrad Fihn pulled back on
his goalie cap, having played in front of the cage in high school
before being converted to a field player to start his college
career. He recorded two saves.
Kyle Reuther and Scott
Churchman played a quarter apiece and combined for six
saves.
Overall 12 different players scored. Coleman led the pack with
four goals while Clayton, Richard Dybas,
Christian Erwin, Jacob Lim, and Dan
Seagren each scored twice. Adding to the offensive effort
today Churchman, Josh Kantor and Joe
Reynolds each dished out three assists.

steals. Reynolds stole the ball from the Beavers four times and
Churchman had a trio as well.
Occidental (6-17, 2-3 SCIAC) will be back on the road Wednesday,
Nov. 3 when they travel to the University of La Verne to play the
