Box Score LANCASTER, Calif. (Nov. 18, 2010) – Before a rowdy crowd
on the road, the Occidental College men's basketball season
improved to 2-0 with a 74-60 victory over host West Coast Baptist
College tonight in non-conference action.
The sure shooting Tigers had three players reaching double
figures tonight as they combined for connect on 51 percent of their
shots from the floor. Freshman Kris Montoya led
all players with 18 points, connecting for a pair of triples while
junior Jack Hanley and sophomore Sam
Stapleton scored 15 (6-for-9) and 14 (5-for-7),
respectively. Deshun McCoy handed out a team high
four assists, chipping in with eight points and six boards.
Stapleton and Hanley each had three assists apiece as well.
Oxy was also solid at the stripe, going 21-for-26 overall.
Montoya was 6-for-6 from the charity stripe while both Nick
Robinson and Drew Dockweiler were
4-for-4.
On the glass, junior Jake Copithorne led all
players with 12 rebounds., also grabbing a pair of steals, as did
Dockweiler. Montoya had the only Tigers' block of the
night.
The Tigers (2-0) return to Rush Gymnasium on Friday, Nov. 26
when they host the first of the two-day Oxy-Chapman Turkey Classic.
Co-host Chapman University will tip off against Azusa Pacific at
5:00 p.m. before the Tigers and University of Puget Sound Loggers
take the court at 7:00 p.m.
