Box Score PASADENA — Ashton Reid scored 14 points and the Occidental College women's basketball team dominated the glass in an 82-40 rout of Crown College (Minn.) on the final day of the Oxy/Caltech Thanksgiving Classing at Caltech on Saturday.
Michelle Naito-Lo was named the Most Outstanding Player after scoring a combined 30 points in the two-day classic. She had 19 points on Friday against La Sierra and 11 more in 15 minutes against Crown College (Minn.).
Elizabeth Messick grabbed 15 rebounds for the second consecutive day.
"Michelle really stepped up and carried us to a victory over La Sierra and (Messick) was great inside as the backbone of our defense in both games," Oxy head coach Anahit Aladzhanyan said. "It's good to get two more wins under our belt before another conference game against La Verne on Dec. 7."
As a team, Oxy outrebounded Crown 59-35. Kristen Treat grabbed nine of them and Brittni Walker had six.
Tiffany Kho scored 11 points off of the bench, Erin Matsumoto had eight and Haley Graham and Stefanie Young added seven.
Oxy's defense played well again, holding Crown to 22 percent shooting while forcing 21 turnovers.
The Tigers improve to 4-2 overall.
