CHAPMAN 15, OCCIDENTAL 8
LOS ANGELES — Taylor Russell scored three goals, but Oxy got off to a slow start and couldn't recover in a 15-8 loss to No. 2 Chapman at Taylor Pool on Wednesday.
The Panthers have now won 10 games in a row, dating back to Sept. 28.
Oxy's Adam Florsheim had 15 saves in the net, despite letting in 15 goals. Matt Weiser added two goals.
Chapman was led by Chase Middlesworth and Jake Gross, who each had three goals.
"We tried to force too much, too soon and it led to a lot of mistakes on offense," Oxy head coach Larry Zubrin said. "And that results in easy counter goals for the opponent."
The Tigers played much better in the second half after falling behind 7-2.
"When we slowed down and played a little bit more controlled in the second half, we played much better," Zubrin said.
The Tigers return to the pool on Nov. 4 at La Verne at 4 p.m.
