LA VERNE — The Occidental men's water polo team was edged by La Verne in the seventh place game 6-5 at Las Flores Pool on Sunday.

The Tigers finish eighth in the SCIAC Championship Tournament and eighth in the SCIAC overall standings. 

Paul Bergevin led Oxy with a pair of goals and Matt Munet, Dominic Rodriguez and William Kim each added one.

La Verne was led by two goals from Chad Castro.

Oxy fell behind 6-2, but nearly climbed all the way back to tie it. The Tigers outscored ULV 4-1 in the second half and 2-0 in the fourth quarter. 

The Tigers finish the 2015 season under first year head coach Chris Lee 4-21. They graduate Patrick Maloney, Josh Needleman and Henry Fanscioni.
