Box Score LOS ANGELES — Kendahl Wallis-Lang grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, Grace Baranowski scored 16 points and the Occidental College women's basketball team came away with a convincing 73-59 win over Caltech. The win gives the Tigers their first SCIAC victory of the season.
Season Impact: Occidental improves to 5-8 overall and 1-3 in SCIAC play. Caltech falls to 2-10 overall and 0-3 in the SCIAC.
After going into the break with a four point lead, the Tigers capitalized on a big third quarter performance outscoring the Beavers 23-8 in the period.
Oxy dominated inside, out rebounding the Beavers 48-26. The Tigers took advantage off the offensive boards, scoring 20 second chance points.
Oxy's defense was solid all night forcing 20 turnovers, led by Wallis-Lang's four steals.
Triana Anderson nearly notched a double-double with 15 points including four 3-pointers and nine rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench for the Tigers.
Erin Matsumoto was also in double digits for Oxy with 15 points. Paige Waters added eight points and five rebounds, and Midori McElwee dished out six assists.
Stephanie Wong led all players with 20 points and Kate Lewis scored 19 for Caltech.
