LOS ANGELES – Dominic Rodriguez scored a clutch goal and Adam Flosheim continued his outstanding season in the goal, but the Occidental men's water polo team fell to Cal Lutheran 12-10 in overtime at Taylor Pool on Saturday.

William Kim led Oxy with four goals, including one on an exclusion play near the end of the first quarter to cut Cal Lu's lead to 5-4, and three in the second quarter, including a hook into the right corner that gave Oxy its first lead of the game.

Trailing by one late in the fourth, Rodriguez lobbed the ball in from the center to tie the game at 9-9.

With the ball in their possession, Cal Lu took a timeout with 13 seconds left in the game. The Kingsmen took a shot to try and end the game, but Floresheim made the save to send the contest into overtime.

Rodriguez was all over the place for the Tigers in the first overtime period, scoring the first goal to put Oxy up 10-9, and rushing back to block a shot.

Cal Lutheran rallied with three unaswered goals in overtime for the win.

Florsheim finished the game with 17 saves.

Oxy Paul Bergevin scored three goals.

Oxy falls to 0-1 in SCIAC play. The Tigers are back in action on Oct. 19 at Pomona-Pitzer.
