CLAREMONT – Occidental played some of its best water polo of the season at the Gary Troyer Tournament, picking up two wins Friday and coming within a point of beating NCAA Division 1 Fordham on Saturday.
The secret to success this weekend was a balanced team effort. 10 different players scored goals during the tournament.
"The team competed with great focus and effort and that's how we measure our success," Oxy head coach Chris Lee said. "Adam (Florsheim) was so solid in goal for us, but we are really getting contributions from so many more people than we were seeing earlier in the season. We are playing better team water polo."
Lee and the Tigers are hoping to ride their momentum into the first week of SCIAC competition, starting with Cal Lutheran on Oct. 15 at 11 a.m.
