Box Score LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's basketball team's winning streak was snapped at 10 games with a 70-60 loss at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday.
Season Impact: Oxy falls to 16-3 overall and 9-1 in SCIAC play.
CMS improves to 12-7 and 10-1.
Oxy hadn't lost since losing to No. 1 Whitman 73-69 on Dec. 17.
CMS hit five 3-pointers in the first half to jump out to a 37-26 lead and then was able to beat Oxy on the boards and inside to hold on.
Zach Baines had a team-high 21 points on 7 for 14 shooting, six rebounds and three assists for Oxy. Austin DeWitz had 13 points, six rebounds and three assists, and Jonny Crosthwaite was 5 for 8 with 11 points.
The Tigers were outrebounded 36-26, something that seldom happens to Oxy with a 8.4 rebound per game margin this season.
Jack Ely had 14 rebounds for CMS, including six at the offensive end of the floor that squashed every run the Tigers made to try to get all the way back into the game.
Michael Scarlett led CMS with 20 points.
