Tigers Take Down Beavers

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's water polo team cruised past Caltech 20-8 at Taylor Pool on Wednesday night in its first home contest of the season.

Elijah Havens led the way with three goals, an assist and a pair of steals. Tanner Jones had three goals, three steals and three drawn exclusions, Christian Guillaume had a team-high four goals, and Keegan Klein and Daniel Cruz each had two goals and an assist.

Steven Csaposs led Caltch with a game-high five goals.

The Tigers played good defense all night, particularly in the second and third quarters when they went without allowing a goal. The Beavers poured in a few late scores in the fourth as the game began to open up a big.

Oxy shot .571 from the field compared to Caltech's .333.

It was Oxy's second highest scoring output this season and second time the Tigers have scored 20 or more goals. Oxy's best offensive total came in a 23-1 win over Citrus in its season opener. 

Season Impact: Oxy improves to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in SCIAC.

Caltech falls to 5-8 and 0-4.

Next Game: Oxy is back in action on Friday night at home against Austin College at 6 p.m.
