Box Score LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's basketball team fell in a close road game at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 65-60 on Wednesday.
The Tigers trailed 30-29 at half, fell behind by 10 in the second half and then cut the lead to four with less than 90 seconds to play, but could not ever jump in front.
Jacob Adler led Oxy with a big night shooting the ball, going 8 for 11 from the field and 5 of 8 from beyond the 3-point line for a game-high 24 points. He also had eight rebounds, including seven at the defensive end of the floor as the Tigers scrapped against a much bigger CMS squad.
Sydney Shipp created offense for himself off of ball screens in the first half, scoring 10 of his 12 ponts in the first 20 minutes.
Ryan Kaneshiro had 10 points, three rebounds and four assists, and Kyle Dosa had six assists and six rebounds.
Caleb Yellin-Flaherty had five steals and two blocks, but scored just nine points on 3 for 18 shooting.
Big guys Jeremy Horn and George Walker led CMS with a combined 26 points on 9 for 13 shooting, and eight offensive rebounds. Kele Mkpado added 15 points.
Season Impact: The Tigers fall to 12-4 and 4-3 in SCIAC.
CMS improves to 13-3 and 5-2.
