Anaheim, CA —  This weekend the Occidental men's golf team competed in the Chapman Invitational, a SCIAC Quad Meet.  The other participating programs were host school, Chapman University, as well as the University of La Verne and Whittier College.
Senior Co-Captain Jack Moeller shot an outstanding under par 36 hole total of 141 (69-72).  On day one of the invitational, Moeller was the only athlete to shoot under par.  On day two, Moeller birdied the last two holes to force a playoff with Aaron Yoo of the University of La Verne.  The playoff is sudden death to determine the first place finisher.  In the end, Moeller was edged by Yoo in a very tight match, earning second place overall.  After Moeller, the Tigers were led by junior Alec Phillips 151 (74-77), who tied for eighth place, and sophomore Connor Wierman 152 (79-73), who came in tenth place.
Competing as individuals, Will Acherman and Josh Wong, were separated by six points.  Acherman had a two day score of 157 (80-77) and Wong shot a 163 (81-82).
Oxy finished second to La Verne in the invitational scoring 594.  They finished ahead of SCIAC rivals Whittier and Chapman.
Next Meet: The Tigers wrap up fall play and will resume competition in February 2022.
