Los Angeles, CA – Last night, the Occidental women's basketball team battled Linfield University. After going into halftime trailing behind the Wildcats, the Tigers came out stronger than ever and took the lead. Their resilience earned them a victory beating the Wildcats, 76-66.
Occidental's leading scorer was sophomore Toni Thompson (Newbury Park, CA) scoring 23 points. Thompson led the Tigers with eight rebounds and two assists. Following Thompson, Maylene Hughes (Sacramento, CA) and Alegria Lopez (Los Angeles, CA) take home 16 and 14 points, respectively, for the Tigers. Overall, four Tigers scored in the double digits.
"I'm proud of our team for bouncing back after a quiet first half. We had great energy and played with the intensity needed to turn the game around," said head coach Anahit Aladzhanyah.
Linfield made for great competition for the Tigers leading in the first half, 38-31. The Wildcats were led by Elyse Waldal, who scored 17 points.
Next Game: The Tigers will play against Pacific Lutheran University at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21.
