Men's Water Polo

Inland Empire Classic, Day 1

Redlands, CA —  The Occidental men's water polo team headed to Redlands, CA this weekend to compete in the 2021 Inland Empire Classic Tournament.  On day one, the Tigers went up against Fresno Pacific and UC Santa Barbara.

In the first game of the day, Oxy got an early lead by scoring the first three goals.  After FP scored their first goal, the Tigers went on to have two five-goal streaks.  The top scorers for Oxy were Jarrod Norton and Cian Concannon, each getting five and four goals respectively.  Oxy's strong offense brought the Tigers a 17-5 victory.

In the second game against No. 5 UC Santa Barbara, Oxy lost 27-7.  The Tigers held their own in the first half of the game, but UCSB dominated in the second half.  Daniel Cruz was the lead scorer for the Tigers with two goals.  Goalkeeper James Derrod had seven big saves during the game. 

Next Game:  Oxy will go up against No. 2 USC at 9:00 a.m. and Concordia at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, September 12.
