Los Angeles, CA — Occidental College played an extremely competitive game against CMS this Saturday, ending in an unfortunate loss, but not without giving CMS a run for their money.

The first half started out strong with Anthony Hollerich snagging the ball and Andrew Waldman shooting the first point onto the scoreboard with an assist from Dosa. Shortly after, CMS's TJ Askew threw them onto the scoreboard as well. The game continued on with some heat as Hollerich caught the ball between himself and steals from Rhett Carter on CMS with each side scoring consistently. For the first fifteen minutes of the game Occidental remained in the lead until Matt Meredith of CMS made a jump shot that tied them both at 22-22. After that, the two teams remained to keep scoring one after the other until Waldman brought us back in the lead with 28 points. CMS brought their A-game to counter this lead and ended the first half with 33 points.

In the second half the two teams seemed to be going just as strong with Dosa making the first score with a 3-point jump shot assisted by Waldman. The chemistry between Hollerich, Dosa, and Shipp has never failed on the court but Waldman's addition this year seems to weave in just as well with the starting line-up as he scored a beautiful two point shot off of Hollerich's assist. Rising to the task during this game was #34, Aiden Nolet, who has not played much this season but was ready to not disappoint. Although quiet during the first half, during the second he provided a saucy block seven minutes in and again caught a rebound off of CMS's failed shot to bring the score to 41 for Oxy while CMS had 50. The team was unable to win against CMS's offense in the second half, however their growing chemistry as a team really showed through during their defensive plays.

Ending Score: 56-70

Next Game: Wednesday, January 12th at 2pm Occidental will be playing Pomona-Pitzer at Pomona-Pitzer College.
