Pasadena, CA – Occidental played CalTech on Monday gaining a well deserved win after their close loss earlier this season.
For the first five minutes of the Game CalTech was up, 7-3, with Spencer Schneider and Riley Wood helping with rebounds and making the shots. Anthony Hollerich of Oxy made a three point shot that brought Oxy on par with CalTech and soon the two teams were going neck and neck.
Having lost the last game against CalTech, however, Oxy's determination to win could be seen from the stands. Waldman and Nishi came off the bench hot with a jump shot and assist that put them above on the scoreboard twice in a row. Towards the end of the half, Hollerich came in with multiple jump shots that ended them with 28-20.
In the second half Shipp, Waldman, Dosa, and Hollerich all entered with their usual chemistry that weaved through the opposing team. At 17:17, Hollerich made a free throw shot that put Oxy ten points in the lead. One minute later, despite CalTech scoring some, Waldman's free throw kept them ten points ahead.
With 10 minutes left on the clock, Tejan Lanser saw more plays, getting a few assists in there before going back to the bench. In the end, Waldman and Hollerich's baskets finished the game off strong resulting in a 72-59 win.
