Los Angeles, CA – Oxy's tigers played against Chapman this Friday at Occidental College and the energy in the gym was intense that night.

Oxy had one of their star players out this game, however this did not prevent them from starting out strong as Hollerich scored the first point. As the teams became more competitive with each other, Chapman's team often body checking Oxy's players, the tigers became determined to win some points with style. With three minutes left on the clock, Shipp took his opportunity to steal and breakaway with the ball only to end in a slam dunk that caused everyone in the gym to jump to their feet roaring. To top it off, with just 20 seconds left on the clock, Dosa's steal ended the half in Oxy's favor 49-47.

Into the second half, Williams and Hollerich really had great chemistry - Hollerich making many of his free throws and Williams getting the ball passed to him often.

Having fallen behind a bit, Oxy's players decided to push harder in the game. With 13:58 on the clock, Shipp had an amazing fake that pushed the whole opposing team out of the way for him to make the perfect shot that had the crowd cheering. Just a minute later, Lopez's assist to Shipp's layup put Oxy in the lead again and caused the stands to go wild - an energy Oxy's gym has not felt for a while.

Falling behind again in the last six minutes, Oxy was able to close the gap from being nine points behind to tying with them in the last minute. Unfortunately, the fouls on multiple Oxy players allowed for Chapman to sneak in a few extra free throw shots. This ended the game with Chapman six points in the lead, 95-89, but not without a fight against Oxy's defense.

Next Game: Occidental College plays Whittier College this Saturday, January 22nd at 2:00pm in Rush Gymnasium.
