Los Angeles, CA – The Tigers had two of their star players out during their game against Whittier College this last Saturday, ending in a strongly fought defeat.

Up and coming Aden Nolet made the first shot of the game, putting Oxy on the scoreboard first, however Whittier's players' height, hops, and three point shots put them in the lead early on in the game.

Despite this disadvantage, as well as playing a new line up due to two players being out, Oxy's Tigers tried to play to their own strong suits. Shipp, being a usual starter, was able to get the most shots in during the first half as well as maintain the highest amount of rebounds that half. Hollerich played to his strong suits by weaving through the opposing team and managed to score 18 points during the whole game, as well as maintaining the most defensive rebounds. Williams, another usual starter, was able to do the same and keep the team on their feet.

Ultimately, Whittier was able to pinpoint the team's weaknesses and surpass our defense through keeping the ball high in the air and shooting three-pointers that were harder to block. Although Oxy's defense was strong, missing players and a new lineup caused some troubles in their ability to swiftly weave between the opponents and block their passes.

Next Game: Occidental College will be playing Redlands at the University of Redlands on January 26th, at 7:00pm.
