Redlands, CA – Occidental played against Redlands University this last Wednesday and gave their best even though they still had players out.

Aiden Williams and Tejan Lanser really showed through this last game. During the first half, the whole team had the opposing team running up and down the court for what seemed like five minutes straight. Williams stayed on top of his rebound game and was able to score the most points throughout the game (scoring a total of 17 for the team whilst having eight rebounds). Additionally, Lanser kept the bulldogs on their paws as he scored 10 points for Oxy despite only being put in for a total of 19 minutes for the game (compared to others who were in for a total of 30 or more). Spectacular job to both these players given Redland's strong defense. 

The bulldogs continued their fight against Oxy's defense, though, using their longer distance three point shots to their advantage. Despite this, Oxy maintained their teamwork, getting higher assists than Redlands and sticking to the things that worked for them like their starting line-up chemistry and rebound abilities. Nishi, who has proven his skills to be improving this season, really came through in the second half knocking out both of his free throws and scoring the most points for that half. 

Overall, a tough game that ended in a 61-78 defeat for Oxy. Even though the game did not play out to the best of Oxy's favor, the team is still going strong and has promising prospects for future games. 

Next game: Oxy's Tigers will be playing Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at CMS this Saturday, January 29th at 5pm. Best of luck to the players.
