Orange, CA — The Occidental Men's Water Polo team went up against Chapman University on Wednesday night. After moving up from ninth, to tying for second in this week's water polo ratings, the Tigers were up in high spirits and lots of energy. The Tigers started off with two back-to-back goals coming from Kellen Radtkey (Santa Barbara, CA) and Hayden Comerford (Honolulu, HI). Then, towards the end of the first quarter, Cian Concannon (Mill Valley, CA) and Keegan Klein (Bellevue, WA) also scored in sequence, bringing the Tigers to a big lead. In the second quarter, Shea Grosz (Lafayette, CA) scored twice followed by a quick shot from Concannon. Then with just over a minute left in the quarter, Klein found the back of the cage.
In the second half of the game, the Tigers brought the heat. Nate Fisher (LaGrange, IL) shot and scored on a powerplay. Then Klein scored again twice, once on a penalty shot. In the fourth quarter, Christian Guillaume (Ventura, CA) deposited a perfect shot on a powerplay. Then, with twenty-eight seconds left in the game, Jarrod Norton (Newbury Park, CA) converted a penalty shot, solidifying the Tigers win. On defense, the Tigers drew nine exclusions and had three steals. Final Score: 13-12 Oxy.
Spencer Snow, Ryan Baumann, Nate Randolph, and Everett Prussak led Chapman with two goals each.
