Los Angeles, CA – The Occidental women's basketball team was grinding during their Thanksgiving break to prepare for their matchup against Bethesda University. The Tigers gained a lead in the first quarter which gave them momentum to carry them throughout the rest of the game. Bethesda did well but was unable to hold back the Tigers, getting away with 55 points while the Tigers got 87.

First years, Paige Yasukochi and Ainsley Shelsta, lit up the Bethesda baskets and led the Tigers in points; 14 and 13 points, respectively. The Tigers were quick to the ball and aggressive, earning 59 rebounds as a team. Overall, the large amount of work the players have been putting in is beginning to pay off just in time for their SCIAC matches begin.

Bethesda was a challenging competition for the Tigers, but they were unable to snatch the win from them. Alex Buckley still managed to shine offensively and defensively by leading her team with 24 points and 8 rebounds.

The Tigers' SCIAC journey kicks off with a match at home against the University of Redlands on Wednesday, November 30 at 5:30 p.m.
