Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental College men's basketball team was at home on Wednesday night for a matchup with Milwaukee School of Engineering.
The Tigers would jump out to an early 8 point lead in the 1st half, with Sydney Shipp contributing 6 of the Tigers first 11 points of the game. MSOE would bounce back quickly and grab a 16-15 lead with 11:31 left in the 1st half.
The game stayed tight from that point on with the teams exchanging leads and going back and forth with made baskets. Oxy would put together a nice run with less than 5 minutes to play in the 1st half to grab a 33-22 lead with 3:47 remaining.
Bernard Cassidy would make a nice hook shot in the paint right before Shipp followed with a nice steal and layup to finish off the half and take a 37-28 Tiger lead into the locker rooms.
The Raiders came out in the 2nd half looking for a spark to start a comeback, but every time MSOE would cut the lead down, the Tigers were prepared to respond. With 15 minutes left in the game Kyle Dose would knock down a three to give the Tigers a 47-36 advantage with an assist from Shipp.
Oxy would keep their lead from that point on and eventually were able to get the win by a score of 79-59. Dosa was a huge part of the Tiger win shooting 10-12 from the field and 3-5 from 3-point range, for a total of 24 points. Shipp also scored 24 points and added 9 rebounds and 6 assists to go along with it.
Aiden Williams knocked down 3 of his 8 3-point attempts while also grabbing 9 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists. This was an overall impressive effort from the Tigers to pick up their 4th win of the season.
Next Game: Oxy men's basketball will be back in action on Friday, December 30th when they take on Husson at Rush Gymnasium.
