Los Angeles, CA — Occidental's men's basketball team traveled to West Coast Baptist on Saturday night for a non-conference matchup.
The game was closely contested for most of the 1st half, with both teams playing well offensively and putting points on the board. The Tigers would begin to separate themselves from West Coast Baptist on the scoreboard with about 5 minutes left in the half.
The Tigers capped off a 9-0 scoring run with an Aiden Williams 3-pointer to extend their lead to 10 points. Oxy closed the half with made shots by Sydney Shipp, Kyle Dosa and Williams and took a 43-34 lead into the locker rooms.
West Coast Baptist would make a push to get back in the game in the 2nd half, getting Oxy's lead down to 7 points 5 minutes into the half. Oxy quickly responded by getting the hot shooter open and Aiden Williams drained 3-pointers on three straight possessions to get the lead back up to 16 points.
The Tigers would never look back after that as they went on to win the game by a score of 100-79. Williams was the team leader in points for the game, scoring 24 points while cashing in 7 3-pointers.
Anthony Hollerich also had a terrific game as he scored 22 points (9-11 FGs, 2-3 3PT) and grabbed 3 rebounds. Jacob Koretz was the leading scorer off the bench for the Tigers, picking 9 points and also dishing out 3 assists.
Next Game: Oxy will face off against the Poets as Whittier travels to Eagle Rock to take on the Tigers in Rush Gymnasium on Wednesday, January 11th.
