Tigers Go Into Overtime Against the Bulldogs

Los Angeles, CA – The Occidental women's basketball team challenged the University of Redlands. It was an exciting game with both teams going back and forth to take the victory. The Bulldogs quickly took the lead, but the Tigers fought back to gain a big lead going into the second half. In the second half, Redlands was determined to not let the Tigers get away with the win and tied up the score in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, the Tigers were unable to hold back the Bulldogs, ending the game 73-69, Redlands.

Maylene Hughes and Paige Yasukochi had their eyes set on the Bulldogs' basket and together, led the Tigers with 20 points each. Michelle Lagunas-Monroy held down the Tiger defense with 12 defensive rebounds, the most of the match. Overall, the Tigers worked hard and fought to the very end. 

Redlands' determination that led them to have a great comeback was very impressive. Hannah Jerrier had an outstanding performance, scoring 27 points against the Tigers. Additionally, Jerrier also led her team with 11 rebounds.

The next match for the Tigers will be at home court on Wednesday, January 25 against Whittier College at 7:00 p.m.
