Los Angeles, CA – The Occidental women's basketball team challenged the Chapman University Panthers for the second time this season. The Tigers took an early lead going into the second half, but the Panthers knew the game was not over. Chapman was on fire to close the game that the Tigers could not hold up against. Unfortunately, the Panthers took the win back to Orange with them, 88-79.
The first year shooters, Ainsley Shelsta and Dara Tokeshi, used their skills to significantly contribute to the Tiger's early lead. Shelsta led the Tigers with 21 points with Tokeshi not far behind with 19 points. Additionally, the Tigers had the highest FTM-A this season, only missing 1 free throw out of 18 shots, tallying up to 94.4%.
Julia Strand pulled through for the Panthers, scoring 33 points for her team. Strand's aggressiveness also allowed her to take the lead in rebounds with 11 overall.
The Tigers are heading down to Thousand Oaks on Wednesday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m. to challenge the Cal Lu Regals.
