Los Angeles, CA — Oxy's men's soccer team was in action against the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen at home on Patterson Field on Wednesday.Â
Both teams came out strong and were playing tough defense to prevent either side from getting great looks at the goal. In the 20th minute of the game, Andrew Notter would get a nice shot on goal that was saved by the Cal Lu goalie to preserve the scoreless game.Â
Riley Nyhan made a save of his own just before that shot by Notter, and later Oxy would come up with a nice team save to keep Cal Lu off of the board. The score would be 0-0 going into halftime.Â
In the 2nd half, 4 different Tigers had shots including Christian Corcoran, Joey Schwartz, Oury Diane, and Charlie Miller. All of the shots had a chance of breaking the 0-0 tie but were just off of the mark.Â
Nyhan would come up with two big saves late in the game when Cal Lu had some chances to score. Both teams played a hard fought game but were unable to break through the opposing teams defense for a goal and the game would end in a 0-0 tie.Â
Oxy will next play against Whittier College on Homecoming and Senior Day on October 21st at 4pm.
