Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental men's soccer team traveled to Orange, CA to square off with the Chapman Panthers in a rematch of the 2022 SCIAC Championship.Â
Oxy came out ready to play as they created some shot opportunities early. Christian Corcoran and Tyler Na-Nakornpanom both had shots that were just slightly off the mark as the Tigers looked to gain a lead.Â
Corcoran took another one of Oxy's 1st half shots in the 23rd minute of the half, and this one needed to be saved by the Chapman goalie to preserve the tie game. Oxy's defense held the Panthers to 3 shot attempts in the 1st half and Riley Nyhan had the save on one of them, with the other two being off of the goal.Â
The score would be tied going into the half. In the 2nd half, both teams' defenses were controlling the game and preventing scoring opportunities. Nyhan was forced to make 3 saves in the 2nd half, preserving the 0-0 score that would hold until the end of the game.Â
With the tie, Oxy moves to 5-0-2 in the SCIAC with 5 conference games remaining on the schedule. They will be in action at home against the UCSC Banana Slugs at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 7th.
