Newville, PA – The Occidental men's cross country team sent six student-athletes to compete in the 2023 NCAA DIII Pre-Nationals on Saturday. Representing the men were Amir Barkan, Renn Stearns, Aidan Lindhe-Johan, Matthew Vickers, Sloan Wittliff, and Jack Elfenbaum. 

Junior Barkan was the first Tiger across the finish line to come in 25:43.0 to take 43rd.  Stearns followed in 26:23.3 and just made the top 100.  Lindhe-Johan was the third Tiger to finish in 26:40.6.  Vickers was right behind in 26:47.1.  Wittliff and Elfenbaum were the final two Tigers to finish at 26:59.4 and 27:38.0, respectively.  The team came in 16th after St. Lawrence and Hope with 498 points.  Amongst the SCIAC schools competing in the race, Oxy fell to Pomona-Pitzer (fourth) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (sixth), but beat Caltech (19th).
