Los Angeles, CA — The Oxy women's soccer team wrapped up their SCIAC season in a road matchup against the Caltech Beavers on a Saturday morning.

In the game, Caltech was able to get on the board with a goal after getting off a few shots in the early going of the game. Oxy would respond quickly with some shots of their own as the Tigers looked to even the score.

Mia Steadman had a header attempt on a shot which was followed by a shot from Maile Fukushima before Steadman had another shot at the goal after a corner kick pass from Malia DeCastro.

Kara Ovenell and Lauren Cassel both put shots on the goal for Oxy before 30 minutes had passed in the 1st half but the Caltech goalie came up with two nice saves that prevented the shots from tying the game. Steadman would also get off one more shot before halftime to force the Beaver goalkeeper to make the stop and preserve Caltech's 1-0 lead heading into the break in play.

The Tigers came out fast in the 2nd half, putting three shots on goal in the first 10 minutes of the half, but all three shots were saved by the goalkeeper. Oxy would eventually break through after about 11 minutes into the half when Mia Steadman placed another shot past the goalie for her 9th goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1.

Both teams would battle searching for the go ahead goal for much of the 2nd half. Oxy was creating more offensive opportunities than the Beavers as four different Tigers were able to take shots that nearly gave Oxy the lead. With about 16 minutes remaining in the contest, Jordyn Tribus fired a shot at the goal for Oxy and it sailed past the goalkeeper to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead in the game.

Occidental was playing strong defense as the game came to a close but Caltech created a solid chance to score before they were able to find the game equalizing goal with only a few minutes remaining in the game. With the game tied 2-2, both teams looked to score one last time and Oxy had shots from Mia Steadman and Kyra Bethune while holding Caltech to no more shots in the game, but the game would come to an end in a draw.

Oxy finished the season with an 6-4-5 overall record and a 4-4-4 record in the SCIAC, only 2 points behind the fourth place team in the conference.
