Los Angeles, CA — Oxy men's basketball looked to continue their strong play to start the year in their matchup with the Cal Miramar Fighting Falcons on Sunday afternoon.Â
The Tigers got off to a good start in the game with the help of strong play from Jacob Koretz. Who had 7 quick points in the game. Oxy was able to get their lead up to 11 points with 11 minutes to go in the 1st half when Henry Wilson knocked a 3-pointer.Â
Aiden Williams began to catch fire from three-point range with 8 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Williams knocked down back to back three-pointers before making a third three only a minute later.Â
Oxy was able to stay on an offensive role and get everyone involved in the offensive scheme. The Tigers would close the half with a 29 point lead in the game after a Ryan Hakl made layup. The Fighting Falcons would cut into the lead at different points in the 2nd half, but Oxy would maintain a large lead for the rest of the game.Â
The game would come to a close with Oxy winning by a score of 98-67. Aiden Williams led the way on offense with 8 made 3-pointers and 26 points. Jacob Koretz, Henry Wilson and Chase Miller all scored in double figures as well and Miller led the team in rebounds with 9.Â
The Tigers improved to 9-0 with the win and will look to carry their strong play along when they face off against the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen on January 3rd, 2024 for the first game of the new year in a SCIAC matchup.
