Los Angeles, CA — Tigers men's soccer would face off against the Lewis and Clark Pioneers on Saturday night at Anderson Field.Â
Oxy would waste no time to put pressure on the Pioneers as they were able to weave their way through the defense as Joey Schwartz would find Oury Diane on the attack and Diane would finish off the play with a nice goal.
With the Tigers up 1-0, they continued to put pressure on the defense, consistently getting shots off and corner kick opportunities. In the 15th minute, another Oxy attack looked very promising when first year Charlie Miller would receive a pass from Aiden Aley and bury it in the back of the net to double the Tiger lead.Â
The Tigers kept the Pioneers from getting anything going offensively while Oxy fired off 6 more shots since the last goal to challenge the Lewis and Clark goalie before in the 38th minute Andrew Notter was able to fire off another shot that once again got past the Pioneer goalie for the Tiger's 3rd goal of the game.Â
Taking a 3-0 lead into the 2nd half Oxy would continue to put pressure on the defense and get off shot after shot to start the 2nd half. After missing a shot with a header just earlier, Andrew Notter scored his second goal of the game off of an assist from Coleman Bellin to make the Oxy lead 4-0.
Lewis and Clark would struggle to get anything going offensively in the 2nd half either, and they just did not have an answer for the Tigers on this night. Oxy would cap off an impressive victory with a 5th goal in the 85th minute of the game from Kai Fiedelholtz, who scored off of an assist from Ethan Carr to leave no doubt in this one.Â
Oxy looks to carry the momentum from this win into their conference opener on Wednesday September 13th.
