Redlands, CA — Occidental's men's basketball team was in Redlands on Saturday afternoon to take on the University of Redlands Bulldogs in a SCIAC matchup.Â
The Tigers got off to a strong start that included an Aiden Williams' 3-pointer and back to back Jacob Hamermesh made layups that gave Oxy a 6 point lead after 5 and a half minutes of play. The game would remain close for most of the 1st half as Redlands battled back and were within 2 points later in the half.Â
A Nicky Clotfelter layup got the Tigers' lead back up to 6 points at a score of 22-16 with 9 minutes before halftime. Redlands would find a way to put together a 14-0 offensive run that put them up by 8 quickly after. The Bulldogs stayed hot for the rest of the half and had ballooned their lead up to 22 heading into halftime.Â
The Tigers were not able to cut into the lead in the 2nd half despite putting together some good strings of offensive play and Redlands would win the game by a score of 106-80.Â
Aiden Williams was able to knock down 6 3-pointers in the game and score 20 points for the Tigers. Andrew Waldman, Henry Wilson, and Jacob Hamermesh all scored in double figures as well.Â
Oxy will look to bounce back in another SCIAC road matchup against the Caltech Beavers on January 15th in Pasadena @2pm.
