LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Occidental women's volleyball picked up its ninth straight conference loss, but won its second set in conference play in a 3-1 loss to Pomona-Pitzer on Tuesday, October 22. Set scores were 19-25, 13-25, 25-21, and 25-12.

It was Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night in Rush Gym as the team invited their favorite professors and staff members of Occidental College.

Ariana Carranza had her best game of the 2024 campaign, picking up 15 kills – leading all hitters – and hitting just south of .200. She also picked up one of Oxy's four blocks on the evening.

The Tigers won their first set in a SCIAC contest since losing 3-1 to Caltech earlier this month. Oxy rattled off a 7-2 run to finish the third set and pick up the game.
Kayla Owens tallied two kills during the run. Her six kills in tonight's match were the most of her career.

Occidental fell to 3-13 overall and 0-9 in conference play with the loss. They'll look to pick up win number four on the season against Caltech on Friday. The game is set for 6 p.m. in Pasadena.
