Los Angeles, CA — Oxy women's soccer had a match against the University of La Verne Leopards on Saturday night in Jack Kemp Stadium. 

The Tigers were able to put offensive pressure on the Leopard defense quickly, as Oxy took three shots early in the game but none ended up on goal. Both teams were defending well and stopping offensive opportunities of their opponent. 

La Verne only took a single shot in the 1st half and Melanie Rodriguez came up with the save for the Tigers to keep the game scoreless. After the first 45 minutes of the game the score remained knotted up at 0-0 as the teams headed into the locker rooms. 

Within the first 10 minutes of play in the 2nd half, Melanie Rodriguez was tested again on a Leopard shot and came up with another nice save to keep La Verne off the scoreboard. The Tigers responded as Kylie Jones was able to get off a nice shot that forced the UVL keeper to make a nice save as well. 

The intensity of the game began to pick up as time winded down, and two La Verne players were awarded yellow cards within a 5 minute span in the 2nd half. The Tigers had two shots late in the half that nearly broke the scoreless tie, but narrowly missed ending up in the back of the net. 

After 90 minutes of play, the game came to an end in a 0-0 tie. This is the second tie of the SCIAC season for the Tigers as well as the second tie for the Leopards. Oxy will travel to Orange, CA for their next game against the Chapman Panthers on Wednesday at 4:00pm.
