LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Men's soccer played to its second tie in conference play, a 0-0 stalemate with the Chapman Panthers on Wednesday, October 9.
Â
Some exceptional defense and goalie play on both sides kept the scores at zero, but the Tigers offense had looks all night long.
Â
Oxy had its best look in the waning minutes of the match. A perfectly placed corner kick off the foot of
Aiden Aley found
Andrew Notter's head, but Chapman keeper Alex Glynn leapt high into the air and punched the ball out the back of the goal. Glynn collected eight saves on the night against the Tigers – who played a man up for the final 25 after a red card in the 70
th minute.
Â
Riley Nyhan was no slouch in goal either as the Tigers keeper, though seeing less action, was perfect with three saves. The reigning SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week anchored a Tiger defense that has shut out opponents three times in 2024.
Â
With the tie, Oxy remains undefeated in SCIAC play, 5-0-2, and 7-1-3 overall. Chapman is now 3-6-3 overall and 2-3-1 in conference play.
Â
The Tigers have a tune-up match against Bethesda on Saturday before a tough conference battle with Claremont-M-S on the road next Wednesday, October 16.
