LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Women's basketball got back on track with a 72-55 victory over La Verne on Thursday, November 21.

The 17-point conference-opening win is a statement victory taking down the reigning two seed in the conference tournament. This is the third-straight time Oxy has taken down the Leos dating back to last season.

Emily Ko was stellar off the bench, picking up 17 points in 20 minutes, leading the team in scoring.

After trailing 7-6 early in the first quarter, the Tigers retook the lead and never looked back, holding the lead throughout the remainder of the contest.

The Tigers pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring La Verne 22-12 in the frame. Oxy held La Verne to 27% shooting in the quarter.

Ainsley Shelsta scored 16 points after another 16-point performance on Monday. She added her second-straight double-double with 15 boards.
Dara Tokeshi was the third Tiger in double-digits with 14.

Oxy shot 41% from the field and 80% from the free-throw line after a lackluster performance from the charity stripe on Monday.

The Tigers were much better on defense, forcing 24 turnovers with 16 steals. For the second time this season,
Dominique Cabading tallied seven steals.

Oxy picked up 19 second chance points to La Verne's 12 and outscored the Leopard bench 26-9.

With the win, Oxy improved to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in SCIAC play. The Tigers return to Rush on Sunday to host UC Santa Cruz.
