LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Women's basketball took it to Bethesda to begin the season, winning 72-47 in the home opener.

The starting five all tallied double-digit point totals, and the Tigers' defense forced 33 turnovers en route to the victory.
Dominique Cabading was instrumental to the perimeter defense, picking up five steals. She finished with an impressive stat line of 11 points, six assists, five steals, and three rebounds.

While the game started out close with the teams trading buckets, the Tigers pulled away to end the first quarter with an eight-point advantage. An 8-0 run the end the quarter started with an
Ainsley Shelsta layup, then a Cabading steal on the ensuing possession. From there, the other juniors,
Dara Tokeshi and
Paige Yasukochi got involved with buckets on the offensive end.

More of the same continued throughout the remainder of the game as the Tigers took a 20-point lead into the half and led by as many as 26 in the game.

Around the floor,
Michelle Lagunas-Monroy led Oxy in scoring with 12. Yasukochi, Tokeshi and Shelsta all had 11.
Megan Delgado provided a jolt offensively in the second half with eight points in six minutes, going two-for-two from beyond the arc.

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday to take on Stanton in Rush Gym. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
