LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Men's basketball resumes play with its second trip to San Diego of the 2024-25 campaign. This time the Tigers face UC San Diego in a regular season contest.
 
The No. 17 ranked Tritons in the Division I Mid-Major top-25 poll are on a nine-game heater, most recently coming off wins over undefeated (RV) Utah State and San Diego. UC San Diego is 11-2 on the season.
 
MATCH OUTLOOK
Saturday is the Tigers' second meeting of the season with a Division I opponent. This time, the game will count on their regular season ledger.
 
Occidental's last meeting with a Division I team from San Diego came Nov. 12 in an exhibition against San Diego State.
 
Oxy will have its hands full with Tyler McGhie. The 6-5 senior guard is averaging 18 points per game through 13 contests and is shooting nearly 43% from three-point land. The Tritons other tall guard, Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones is averaging just north of 17 a game, and is a menace in the paint, finishing at a 56% clip.
