Los Angeles, CA – The Occidental Tigers roared onto the field in their season opener, displaying a formidable combination of pitching and offensive firepower in a doubleheader against Stevens Institute of Technology on Sunday.
Game 1 Highlights:
In the first game, junior Zada Day-Adams showcased her talent, taking the mound and delivering 3.1 solid innings, tallying two strikeouts. Stepping in to secure the victory, senior Ariel Lashinsky demonstrated her pitching mastery, stifling Stevens offense with precision, allowing only one batter to reach base in an impressive 3.2 innings or work.
On the offensive front, junior Philycia Pedrosa electrified the crowd with a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the 4th inning, igniting momentum for the Tigers.
Game 2 Highlights:
Oxy carried their energy into the second half of their doubleheader, led once again by Lashinsky on the mound. She exhibited consistency and control, allowing just one earned run over 3.1 innings of play.
Offensively, Pedrosa continued to shine, notching two hits in the game. Contributions from Day-Adams, Ellery Mitchell, Sam Palacio, and Kaitlyn Suarezz added depth to the Tigers' lineup, each player delivering a crucial hit.
In a nail-biting finale, junior Evelin Lorch showcased her abilities, driving in a run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 7th inning, underscoring the team's resilience and determination all the way to the final moments of the game.
