Los Angeles, CA— The Tigers were in action at Anderson Field for the final game of the 3 game SCIAC series against the Chapman Panthers on Saturday afternoon.
Chapman got their bats going early and scored 2 runs in the top of the first to take the early lead. Oxy would respond in the bottom of the 2nd, as Jeffery Cambra laced an RBI double to left center, scoring Ben Rutkin.
The Panthers added 2 more runs in the top of the 4th, and 1 more on a solo homer in the 5th inning. The Tigers chipped away at the lead in the bottom half of the 5th inning when Jackson Short singled down the left field line to score Nick Gonzales and make it a 5-2 game.
Chapman scored 2 runs in the 6th and 3 in the 7th inning to extend their lead, but in the bottom half of the 7th inning the Tigers would answer. Garrett Palme had an RBI fielder's choice that scored Gonzalez again, and then Tyler Kubo pinch hit and drove a ball off of the top of the fence for a long single that scored Alex Henderson from 3rd base.
The game would come to an end with a final score of 12-4 as the Panthers took the final game of the series.
Jeffery Cambra had a day at the plate for Oxy, going 4 for 4 with an RBI double. Elias Oster pitched a solid outing, totalling 5 innings on the day.
The Tigers' next matchup will be with the Whittier College Poets at Anderson Field on Friday, April 12th at 3:00pm.
