Orange, CA— The Tigers were in Orange to take on the Chapman Panthers in game 1 of a 3-game SCIAC series.
Chapman got on the board in the 2nd inning, after a hit by pitch and two steals had a runner on 3rd base and a single brought them in to score. The Panthers totaled 3 runs in the 2nd, and scored 2 in the 3rd and 5th to control the lead early.
The score was 8-0 when Oxy rallied back into the game with a big 7th inning. Sancho Llamas led off with a single to center and Garrett Palme followed with a single to right field. Alex Henderson would walk to load the bases and Ben Rutkin had the big hit for the Tigers, driving in Llamas with a single to right.
Jeffery Cambra followed with a 2 RBI double to left center that scored Palme and Henderson. Thomas Munch would follow with an RBI ground out and Lou Martineau had a RBI sac fly to make it a 5 run 7th inning for the Tigers.
The Panthers responded with 3 runs in their half of the 7th and 8th innings, and they would take game 1 by a score of 14-6. Games 2 and 3 of the series will be at Anderson Field on Saturday, April 6th at 11am and 2:30pm.
