LOS ANGELES, Calif – Men's soccer picked up right where it left off last season, cruising to a 4-1 victory over Willamette in the season opener on Sunday, Sept. 1.

The reigning SCIAC champs and No. 14 team in the nation, tallied two goals in the first seven minutes. Oury Diane got the scoring started with a penalty kick goal in the third. He was quickly followed by Andew Notter, who scored the first of his two goals on the day less than four minutes later.

Oxy tallied the first four scores in the match, Devin Bening with a goal in the 16th minute and Notter with his second of the day in the second half.

Willamette, a team two seasons removed from a round of 32 appearance in the NCAA tournament, salvaged a goal in the 82nd minute.

Men's soccer seeks to continue the scoring frenzy on Friday at home against Swarthmore. The start time is slated for 7 p.m.
