LA VERNE, Calif. — Occidental College (9-16, 4-3) secured a 14-11 victory over the University of La Verne (8-12, 1-5) on Saturday at Las Flores Pool, with both teams capitalizing on three power-play goals.
Occidental began the match with a decisive 3-1 lead in the first quarter, as
Travis Hughes scored and
Lucas Washburn added another. La Verne narrowed the gap with Timothy Robles' goal, but
Quin Concannon's goal restored Occidental's advantage. The second quarter saw back-and-forth action, with both teams exchanging goals, including an equalizer from Robles, bringing the score to 6-6. The visiting team pulled ahead in the third quarter when Hughes scored, contributing to a 9-8 lead. In the final quarter, the Tigers solidified their victory with a 5-1 run, highlighted by
Atticus Wahab-Holles' goal, resulting in a 14-11 win.
