LOS ANGELES — Occidental men's water polo finished up a 4-game weekend at the 2025 Gary Troyer tournament taking place at De Mandel Aquatics Center by splitting their final two games, defeating Penn State Behrend in the final game of the tournament.
GAME 1 - L, 15-9
Augustana defeated Occidental College 15-9 at the De Mandel Aquatics Center. The Tigers took an early lead with a 2-1 advantage in the second quarter, but Augustana responded with a dominant seven-goal performance in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. The Tigers' offensive efforts included a successful penalty shot, yet they could not contain Augustana's late surge.
The match began with Augustana taking an early lead, as James Davis scored twice in the first quarter. The Tigers responded with
Travis Hughes finding the net, assisted by
Jack Schroeder, but Augustana's Stevan Rasic extended their lead to 3-1 by the end of the first. In the second quarter, the Tigers'
Kevin Castellanos scored, assisted by Hughes, narrowing the gap to 3-2. However, Augustana maintained their edge with a goal from Alden Brinkmeier. The third quarter saw a back-and-forth exchange, with both teams alternating goals, but Augustana held a 7-5 advantage by the end. Augustana dominated the fourth quarter, scoring six goals, including two from Mark Addison, to secure a 15-9 victory. The victors outshot the Tigers 40-36, converting 15 goals to their 9.
Hughes led the team with four assists, while also contributing a goal on seven attempts.
Atticus Wahab-Holles posted two goals on three shots, adding a steal.
Quin Concannon matched Wahab-Holles with two goals, converting on half of his four attempts. In goal, Schroeder made 17 saves, bolstering the team's defensive efforts.

The team capitalized on power plays, netting three goals with a man advantage. Despite a strong fourth-quarter rally by Penn State Behrend, Occidental maintained their lead to secure the victory.

Travis Hughes scored twice, followed by
Quin Concannon's back-to-back goals, pushing the lead to 5-0. Occidental continued its dominance into the third quarter, with
Danny Miller scoring, quickly answered by the Lions' Will Aikens, making it 7-1. The Tigers maintained control through the fourth quarter, as Miller added another goal, despite a late push from the Lions, who scored five times in the final frame. Ultimately, Occidental secured a 14-9 victory, outshooting the Lions 38 to 28.
