LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Men's water polo returns to the SCIAC Tournament for the first time since 2022. They host Whittier in the first round of the tournament – here's everything you need to know about 2025 tournament.

The No. 1 seeded Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens finished the SCIAC slate at a perfect 12-0. After a down season a year ago, the Sagehens are back atop the conference.
Claremont-M-S has played two close games with the Tigers, both decided by two goals. Most recently, the Tigers held the Stags to only seven scores in the 7-5 loss. The Stags went 20-5 on the season with wins over Iona and Harvard. The surrendered only one loss the Pomona-Pitzer in conference play.
Redlands and the Tigers split wins on the season, with each team winning in their home pool. The Bulldogs, who went 8-4 in the regular season, look to repeat after winning the SCIAC and national championship a season ago. Redlands knocked down Chapman in the 2024 National Championship.
The Tigers finished the SCIAC slate at 6-6. The Tigers suffered a combined five losses to the top three teams, four to Pomona-Pitzer and Claremont-M-S. Occidental earned a win over Whittier earlier in the season.
Whittier snuck in at 6-6, edging out Cal Lutheran who held the head-to-head over both the Poets and Tigers before losing to Redlands on the final day of the season. Whittier went 16-11 overall with big out of conference wins over UC Merced, Augustana and Biola. The Tigers beat the Poets 15-12 back on October 22.
SCOUTING WHITTIER
- The Poets are led by three scorers of 50 or more goals. Zander Montoya, Noah Bigara and Jaime Ariste each combined 185 goals.
- Lorenzo Angelucci led the Poets with 129 saves.
- When the two teams faced back in October, the teams went on a combined four scoring runs of three goals or more.
- The Poets are currently ranked No. 5 in the nation in the CWPA coaches' poll. Their early season wins propelled their ranking.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
The SCIAC Tournament First Round game will be streamed live on FloCollege and can be followed live on oxyathletics.com.
Fans can purchase tickets on the men's water polo schedule page, or at the event. Tickets are $10 plus a fee. Fans cannot bring bags or bottles into the venue, they will be discarded and thrown away at the gate.
