LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Occidental women's lacrosse opened its season with a 24-8 loss to RV Claremont-M-S at Patterson Field on Wednesday, February 19.
 
Despite the score, there was a lot to like from the Tigers in their 2025 debut. Ella Skoglund and Olivia Okamoto combined for seven Tiger goals. All of their scores came in the first 32 minutes of regulation.
 
Occidental played the Athenas close through the first two frames, stringing off a 3-0 run to end the second quarter and start the third, the Tigers found themselves down just four early in the second half.
 
Their physical play early kept them in it until midway through the third quarter when the Athenas pulled away for good. A 13-1 run – Maeve Moylan added the final Tiger goal – to end the game solidified a dominant CMS victory.
 
With the loss, the Tigers open 2025 0-1 overall and in SCIAC play. They return to action on Wednesday, February 26, facing Whittier on the road at 7 p.m.
