LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Softball lost its series opener with Cal Lutheran 7-4 on Friday, March 21.
 
The Tigers played a tough Regals team that reached the SCIAC semifinals a year ago well, leading midway through the contest.
 
Sophia Siu had a stellar game at the plate, going 3-for-4. Her biggest at bat of the game came in the third when she laced a double down the left field line to score a pair of Tigers, tying the game at two. One batter later, Siu came around to score after an Evelyn Lorch double. Lorch's double was the third in the inning and capped off a rally that put Oxy ahead.
 
The Regals firepower proved too tough to overcome as they answered with three in the fourth and amassed to a four-run lead in the fifth.
 
Oxy added one more run for good measure in the ninth, another Lorch RBI double, but that would do it for the Tigers on Friday. They finished with four runs on nine hits and an error.
 
Zada Day-Adams picked up the loss, bringing her season record to 5-7. The Tigers fell to 6-14 overall and 0-7 in SCIAC play. They play two in Thousand Oaks on Saturday March 22.
